On Thursday, April 28, 2016, The Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks had the privilege of donating personal medical supplies, gift cards for office supplies, groceries and gasoline, as well as cash to Beacon Place on Galveston Island.  Beacon Place serves as transitional housing for women and children leaving domestic violence situations.  WOMAN Inc. provides supportive services for the residents; Ruby Jones is the on-site program manager and Michaelle Wormly is Executive Director.
The Club was in Galveston attending the Rotary District 5890 Conference at the San Luis Resort.  District 5890 consists of 62 Rotary Clubs in the Southeast Texas area, and impacts the lives of thousands of local, national and international people through service.
WOMAN Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a statewide Community Housing Development Organization whose mission is to provide transitional housing to women and children escaping abusive situations and other at-risk populations.  WOMAN Inc also provides case management counseling, child care assistance, rental assistance, parenting skills training, life skills management, nutrition and medical intervention, job skills improvement, and advocacy. The organization has recently worked with TSHAC to rehab and donate homes to two US Veterans.
